Numerous evidence-based practice initiatives have been introduced in our healthcare facility, demonstrating remarkable success and sustainability. One noteworthy EBP initiative revolved around the strict adherence to infection control protocols, a particularly vital aspect during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. These measures encompassed meticulous hand hygiene practices, the provision of adequate soap at handwashing stations, and the installation of additional sinks and handwashing facilities. Additionally, healthcare professionals were required to wear personal protective equipment, including double gloves, high-filtration masks like N95 respirators, and goggles. Furthermore, patients were encouraged to cover their noses and mouths, especially during coughing or sneezing (Kilbourne et al., 2019). The unwavering commitment to these infection control policies, especially within the medical/surgical unit where I was stationed, yielded significant benefits by effectively curbing the transmission of the COVID-19 virus and other hospital-acquired infections. Patient education played a pivotal role in this initiative, ensuring that patients continued to adhere to infection control practices at home, further diminishing the spread of infections.
