As you embark on your educational journey at Walden, you’ve probably pondered about what you desire to achieve through the Program Progress Guide (PPG) you’ll be working on. What are your hopes and dreams as you start your graduate-level studies? Beyond earning a psychology degree, think about the benefits of engaging with the scholarly community at Walden University. Your Program Progress Guide (PPG) can assist you in envisioning the subjects you’ll explore and the skills you’ll develop while completing your graduate degree.

In the upcoming week, you’ll discuss potential challenges that you and your fellow classmates foresee in the coming weeks. Together, you can share strategies to overcome these challenges, both as a group and individually.

This discussion on the Discussion Board aims to connect you with your new peers, fostering a sense of community and supportive interaction as you embark on this educational journey together.

To prepare for this Discussion:

1. Locate and download your Program Progress Guide (PPG) from your DegreeWorks. If you encounter any difficulties, don’t hesitate to reach out to your academic advisor for assistance.
2. Familiarize yourself with Walden’s mission and vision statements, as well as Walden’s goals and values, found in this week’s Learning Resources.
3. Explore the web page “Social Change,” available in this week’s Learning Resources.
4. Reflect on your personal, professional, and community aspirations as a graduate student.
5. Consider potential challenges that might hinder your successful degree completion.
6. Reflect on your values, principles, and objectives in connection with what you’ve learned about Walden.
7. Think about how you can integrate a commitment to social change, especially within your program’s area of interest, into your professional, personal, and academic objectives.
8. Review the “Meet the Faculty” media program featured in this week’s Learning Resources and take note of any inspiring messages from the faculty.

With these thoughts in mind:

By Day 3

Share a reflection on something that inspired you from the faculty video messages. Explain how your expectations for your program align with Walden’s mission, vision, and values. Discuss any challenges you foresee in completing your degree and provide at least one strategy to overcome these challenges. Also, elaborate on why you selected this specific field of study at Walden and how you plan to utilize your degree.

Take the time to read through some of your colleagues’ posts and make note of similarities and differences compared to your own reflections.

By Day 5

Respond to two of your colleagues, extending the discussion through Day 7. Acknowledge your colleagues’ concerns or aspirations and propose additional strategies that you find valuable. Suggest at least one resource at Walden that might be beneficial to them in achieving their goals.
