The credible sources that I found during my independent research include:
- Denis, M. (2022). Study: The evidence overwhelmingly says 4-day work weeks are good for everyone. The Manual. Retrieved from https://www.themanual.com/culture/why-4-day-work-weeks-are-good-for- everyone/
- Delaney, H., & Casey, C. (2021). The promise of a four-day week? A critical appraisal of a management-led initiative. Employee Relations: The I international Journal, 44(1), 176-190.

Evaluating sources is crucial for ensuring the reliability and credibility of information. The first source selected talks about the 4-day workweek and how good they are for everyone. The author provides a background of the current 5-day workweek and justifies the reasons why it might be better to achieve work-life balance. The information provided in the source is evidence-based and several links are available to guide the reader to further areas where specific concepts have been discussed. Although the information provided is good, the source was published by a journalist on an editorial platform.
Because the evidence level from the source can be described as an expert opinion, the credibility of the information provided is questionable. The second source is a peer-reviewed article that discusses a 4-day week as observed in employees from a financial company. The source provides current evidence and utilizes a qualitative case study method to collect first-hand information from employees. This source is more reliable because it is published in the International Journal, is peer-reviewed, and contains supporting evidence from other credible sources.
Physical and Mental Health, Study ENG 190 Module Three Collection of Sources
The two sources support my research topic in almost similar ways by describing the benefits of the 4-day week. Based on evidence from the literature, a 4-day workweek means flexibility and an improved work-life balance. Health benefits associated with this intervention include lower stress, better sleep, and high satisfaction with aspects of life like leisure and community involvement (Denis, 2022). Similar findings are observed in the second source, which suggests that employees may have more autonomy over time and an improved work life. Less time at work, or in front of a computer.
More time with friends and families, developing healthy relationships. However, there are concerns about performance measurement, monitoring, and productivity that come with reduced working days (Delaney & Casey, 2021). These findings help to answer my research question of whether a 4-day work week can improve physical and mental health among employees.
I trust the credibility of my sources because they both contain information supported by current evidence. Both sources were published within the last five years making the information trustworthy. The only doubt I have is that supporting evidence from random controlled trials is not enough. More case studies from families working 4-day work weeks are needed. Having the 3 days off weekly more family focused? With the cost of childcare how has the 4-day work week benefited the finances in the household?

Because the information contained in the sources is current, I think the audience will have no issues with the sources. The audience may also find these sources acceptable because the research topic has not been extensively studied and very little high-level evidence is available.
The first article demonstrates a positive bias towards the subject of a 4-day workweek. The author only focuses on the positives that arise from reduced working days. The second source does not demonstrate a bias towards the subject because it describes both positive and negative effects. The empirical findings from the source bring light to the critical concerns regarding the 4-day workweek. The presence of bias in the first article impacts my argument because it omits issues like increased stress, failed marriages, limited family time, Obesity in our country, depression, and Physical and mental abuse.
All pressures that can come with reduced working days. The failed households Secondly, the lack of bias in the second source shows that a 4-day workweek may have benefits to the physical and mental health of employees, but more research is needed. I believe the audience will find the second source more interesting because it lacks bias compared to the first source. Despite these speculations, I believe the audience will love the information from both articles because it brings light to the topic of physical and mental health in the workplace.
